The responsibilities of the color guard captain includes, but is not limited to assisting the color guard instructor, choreographing routines, keeping the team on track, offering help to those having trouble with the routines, making sure that everyone is prepared for all games and competitions (this includes hair, make up, accessories, and proper uniform), updating the team site, and being the overall leader and example for the rest of the guard. It also goes without saying that this member should be one of, if not the most proficient, member of the guard. Depending on the size of the color guard, more than one captain may be required.
The section leaders of the marching band are key figures to our program. Each year you are entrusted with responsibility that is critical to our success. While the section leader is sometimes seen as someone who tells his or her section what to do, the true role of a section leader is to serve his or her section and assure the best possible marching experience for everyone. This is a very rewarding responsibility! Responsibilities range from running music sectionals, assisting in marching technique and drill, coordinating with the group additional practice times, and various other tasks. Depending on the size of each section, there may be 1 to 3 section leaders assigned.
